Mrs. Dana Marie Bowser
       ~ Mrs.Pennsylvania HIAB Queen 2009 ~

Dana is a 32 year resident of Homer City, Pennsylvania.  She is married to her high school sweetheart Gino.  They do not have children yet but plan to in the future.  For now, they have their hands full with two great twin nephews and a beautiful niece.
From 1995-1999 she attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in Rehabilitation Counseling, and with a minor in Sociology specializing in delinquency and youth.  She graduated with Phi Kappa Phi and Summa Cum Laude Honors, ranking first in her major.  From May of 2000 to may of 2009, she has been working for Indiana University of Pennsylvania as Faculty and Executive Director of a wonderful organization called the American Driver and Traffic Education Association, (ADTSEA), which is a driver and safety education advocacy group representing over 1200 members throughout the U.S.  She is currently in transition and going back to human service work.  She will begin working for the Community Guidance Center in May, 2009 as a Family Based Therapist.  This opportunity is exciting for her and she is anxious to get back into the community and help others in need.
While at IUP, she belonged to many professional organizations such as SAFE Kids, PA Death Review Team, PAUD, Pennsylvania Association for Safety Education, DETA, and ADTSEA.  She received several awards during that time such as Strageic Planner Award from DETA and the Silvernale award from the state of Michigan which is the highest driver education honor you can receive in the state.
Since over a decade ago, she found herself becoming more involved in her community.  She began participating in Relay for Life  with her family in memory of her Uncle George Sosnick, and their team became Bronze Club members every year that they participated.  Personally, she volunteers every available weekend that she is able.  She also participates in SAFE Kids events, Stand for Children, Canal Days, Taste and Tour, Golf Charity Events, Indiana County Fair, Cause for Paws, Covered Bridge Events, Holiday Kick Off Events, Parades, Health Fairs, Relay for Life, Wear Red and Dance Day, Bowl for Kids Sake and the Black Tie Gala for the Humane Society.
Her father was recently diagnosed with colon and liver cancer and this has compelled her to do as much as she can for the American Cancer Society.
Her ambition is simple, to do the best she can for others and do as much as she can within her community and for those who need her help and support the most.
